What is LECARE?
LECARE is the intelligent matter file for legal departments, bringing matters, contracts, deadlines and compliance topics together in one central system. We built it so that legal teams have a single point of reference — instead of information scattered across email inboxes, network drives and paper files.
Since 1986 we have been developing LECARE for this one use case — deliberately not general-purpose software, but a solution we continue to refine together with more than 500 customers from sectors such as industry, energy utilities and public administration.
What problem does LECARE solve?
LECARE solves the core problem of scattered legal information: no reliable overview of deadlines, time-consuming document searches, and cost and risk transparency that is difficult to evidence to management or supervisory bodies. We know these friction points in detail from our conversations with customers.
That is exactly what LECARE is build for: a central, searchable data foundation with full-text search across all documents and e-mails, dependable deadline monitoring, and reporting capabilities that allow our customers to turn their legal data into genuine cost and risk transparency.

LECARE is designed for in-house legal departments in mid-sized companies, corporate groups and public institutions with a high volume of matters, contracts and deadlines. How does LECARE differ from law firm software?
LECARE differs from law firm software in both its target group and its functional focus. Law firm software is built for external law firms, covering mandate billing, RVG time recording and client management. LECARE pursues a different purpose: internal governance and control for legal departments that are part of the company. That is why LECARE focuses on collaboration with business units, internal compliance reporting and integration with existing corporate IT.
How is LECARE hosted?
LECARE is available either as an on-premise solution on your own server infrastructure or as a cloud/SaaS deployment in a German data centre. In both cases, LECARE is fully browser-based, with no local installation required. We offer both options so that customers can choose according to their IT and governance requirements.
With on-premise, customers retain full control over their data and processes and, depending on their infrastructure, can also work without an internet connection. The cloud version runs in a German high-availability data centre certified to ISO/IEC 27001:2013, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO/IEC 20000-1:2018 and ISO 22301.

Where is LECARE developed and hosted?
LECARE is developed and operated entirely in Hamburg. Data centre operations for the SaaS version likewise take place in Germany. This matters in particular for customers with high data protection and data sovereignty requirements, such as those in the public sector or in regulated industries.
Which companies already use LECARE?
LECARE is used by more than 500 customers, including Lufthansa, Haribo, Wüstenrot & Württembergische and EnBW (as of August 2026). The software is deployed across industries, for example in energy supply, municipal administrations, hospitals and the financial sector. Legal departments from mid-sized businesses through to international corporate groups rely on LECARE.

How long does it take to implement LECARE?
The implementation of LECARE under the on-premise operating model usually takes 3 to 6 weeks from contract signature to go-live. Once the contract is signed, the software is available for download within a few days, so your IT department can begin installing it in-house straight away with support from the LECARE support team.
Please allow a lead time of 1 to 2 weeks to schedule appointments with the LECARE support team. After the installation, training is arranged for all users before the actual production launch. If migration of existing data is also required, the overall timeframe extends by a further 2 to 4 weeks.
What does LECARE cost?
The price of LECARE depends on three factors: the number of users, the modules selected and the hosting variant chosen (cloud or on-premise). Because these factors differ from company to company, no flat-rate fixed price can be quoted. You can request an individual offer directly from the LECARE Sales Team.
